If you are a Rocky Mountain fly fisherman and you enjoy catching monster-sized trout, the Taylor River in Colorado should be near the top of your list of rivers to visit.  Unlike most Rocky Mountain rivers where anglers dream of a 20-inch trophy fish, anglers on the Taylor have thoughts of  30+ inch fish, with a 40-inch fish landed several years ago.

Groups Praise New Colorado Law to Protect Vulnerable Rivers, Streams

Environmental Defense Fund called legislation signed into law today by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to protect Colorado’s vulnerable rivers and streams “a national model for protecting the iconic and vulnerable waterways of the west.”

Fly Fishing on the Roaring Fork, Colorado

I would like to tell you a little about fishing the Roaring Fork last week…

We arrived in Aspen on Tuesday morning and went straight to one of my favorite fishing spots; it is located in the “canyon” directly across from the Aspen Airport. The hike down to the river is steep and dangerous. I learned that the harder it is to get to a river in Colorado, the better the fishing. The Roaring Fork was flat-out moving. Its flows were almost double the average for this time of year.
