Live Water Properties is excited to announce its newest listing, Mountain Spirit Lodge. Located in Chromo, Colorado, these 115 acres enjoy Navajo River frontage and boast a main lodge, river house, barn and outbuildings. Truly a magical place where art and nature coexist, Mountain Spirit Lodge has some of the best fly fishing in the lower 48 states, in addition to resident wildlife including turkey, elk, Mule deer, black bear and lion. The main lodge is comprised of 6,000 square feet and was built from 100-year-old hand-hewn logs that were transported from Tennessee. Featuring a 35-foot tall stone fireplace in the great room and a dining room that showcases a 17-foot black walnut table, this lodge exudes rustic elegance. There are four large bedrooms each with double-sized antique bathtubs and wood-burning stoves and two additional “staff quarters” in the basement of the lodge. The river house is situated on the Navajo River and is a short walk to the main lodge. The original structure was built in the early 1900s by author Will Price, and it was featured in many of his published stories.

The Alpine Triangle
December 21st, 2009
High in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains lies the Alpine Triangle, a Bureau of Land Management parcel of high-quality fish and game habitat that stands exposed to future hard-rock mining. While mining definitely has a cultural place in Colorado’s history, TU believes the Alpine Triangle–a recreational destination for sportsmen, hikers, off-road vehicle enthusiasts, mountain bikers and others–is too special and too economically valuable in the long-term, to once again expose to the problems that accompany mining in this headwaters region.
Ty Churchwell, a field coordinator based in Durango, Colo., is leading the campaign, and he’s already reaching out to regional sportsmen and women, elected officials, agency personnel and others who value this high-country paradise just as it is. To learn more about the campaign, view the SCP’s latest video on the topic, or get in touch with Churchwell at tchurchwell@tu.org.

The results from the report stated the following: The final design resulted in restoration and enhancement of nearly six acres of wetland by dip-only excavation; restoration of 4,500 linear feet of Cebolla Creek; and construction of 4,000 linear ft. of new stream channel to restore an appropriate and stable geomorphology. Normal geomorphic functions including sediment transport, pool formation, and nutrient transport. Completion of this project actively benefits the health of aquatic and terrestrial resources on the property and also benefits water quality and floodplain function for downstream and neighboring properties. » More: Stream Restoration on Sleeping Dog Ranch
